Ellis “Jake” Diviney

Long athletic career began at Hanover’s Eichelberger High School where he lettered in football, basketball and track. Following a stint in the Navy Air Corps during WW II, he entered East Stroudsburg State, lettering in basketball and track. An extensive coaching career followed at East Berlin High in 1951, leading the school to a District III Class C title. Five years later he took over the New Oxford High program, finishing 28 years later with a 370–218 cage record and eight county and league titles. He also coached Colonial track and wrestling. His 33-year basketball record produced 438 wins. He served as president of the Blue Mountain League Coaches Association and the Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association.
