Ross H. Sachs

An outstanding two-sport athlete at Gettysburg High School, he moved across town to the College where he starred for four years in football and basketball. He was a 21-year-old World War II veteran when he entered the Bullet football program. He took over the new T-formation offense and was the nation’s number two passer. He completed 148 of 312 career passes for 2,396 yards and 29 touchdowns. In 1949 he fired five TD passes in a win over Bucknell. He was a member of one of the finest Bullet basketball teams and ranked among the top team and conference scorers. Following graduation in 1950, he became an outstanding small college lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins and Franklin and Marshall.
