While at Gettysburg College in 1957 Neil played on a team that posted a 7-1-1 record. He then coached Lykens(?) High School to the 1962 Twin Valley League title despite a senior class of only eight boys. At Bermudian Springs, he guided the Eagles, which had never had a winning season, to a three-year 37-9-1 mark. At Central Dauphin East, he took over a program that also had never had a winning season and became Central Penn “Coach of the Year” in 1976. At Carlisle, he fielded teams that were among the best in the state. His overall coaching record – 152-77-8. He also is a member of the Capital Area Sports Hall of Fame.
