The dean of south central Pennsylvania soccer coaches, he began his career at his Alma Mater, St. Thomas High School as assistant soccer coach 1960–1965. In 1966 he moved to Fairfield High School and began a program which became a model for all of Adams County. After the first two developing years, Fairfield began dominating Central Pennsylvania soccer. Its first appearance in districts came in 1972 and in 1974 began seven straight years of district appearances. His 1979 team qualified for the state tournament, posting a 20–2–1 record. In 25 years at the helm, his teams amassed 209 victories, many over strong AAAA teams.
