Dave was a two-sport participant at Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown before attending and graduating from Notre Dame University. As a member of the Littlestown Dodger’s South Penn Baseball team for 14 years, he recorded a lifetime .318 batting average. After hanging up his spikes as a player, he managed and coached the team for the remainder of his 40-year career. He either played on, or managed, the team as it won 12 consecutive championships from 1978-1989. They also posted a title in 1993. Overall, Dave managed the team to eight championships in 22 years. He was also instrumental in re-lighting Littlestown’s Memorial Field.
