James “Jim” Ward

At Gettysburg College, in 1965, Jim set 12 school records as starting football quarterback. He was voted MVP in the Middle Atlantic Conference University Division, leading the conference in total offense, passing, punting, and scoring, and was the second leading scorer in Pennsylvania. Twice he won the Maxwell Club Award, was named All-State, All-East, and All-Conference, and received honorable mention Little America recognition. He also played basketball and baseball as the Conference’s leading hitter. Following graduation, he was a 14th-round NFL draft choice, playing nine years with the Colts and Eagles. In 13 pro games, he completed 13 of 26 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
