Clyde Cleveland

Clyde, a 1952 Gettysburg High School graduate, was a three-year letterman in both football and baseball. In football, Clyde was the only GHS player ever to win All South Penn Conference first team honors three years in a row (1949–51). After graduation, he joined the Navy and played football and baseball for the Bainbridge Training Center Commodores, winning the All-Eastern Navy Football Championship twice. As a result of his outstanding service career, Clyde was awarded a full athletic scholarship to Montana State University. He lettered two years in football as a lineman. He was also the starting catcher on the baseball team in his junior and senior seasons and was voted team MVP in 1960. He passed away in January 2008.
