As head football coach at Gettysburg College, Barry is both the winningest coach in program history and also the longest tenured coach, having passed the legendary “Hen” Bream on both counts. At the midway point in the 2012 season, Barry was tied for 9th in career victories among active NCAA Division III coaches and tied for 21st in all-time Div III football wins. In addition, his 103 Centennial Conference victories were the second-most in conference history. A 1971 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, Barry earned two varsity letters as a tight end on the football team and two as a defenseman on the school’s lacrosse team. In 2003 he was inducted into Lebanon Valley’s Hall of Fame.
