Grafton, a true ambassador for the sport of baseball, is best known for playing in seven decades. His career began circa 1958 with the York Springs Giants Little League team and continued through the Pony League and Bermudian Springs High School, from which he graduated in 1965. As a member of the South Penn Baseball League he played for the following teams at some point: Arendtsville, Bendersville, Brushtown, Cashtown and Mummasburg. He also pitched for Mount Holly Springs in the West Shore Twilight League. In 2007, while playing for the Mummasburg Mets, he pitched on his 60th birthday. He made his final pitching appearance for Mummasburg in 2010.
