Hank was an outstanding football linebacker and wrestler in high school and football lineman and lacrosse player in college. He played on the NCAA Division 3 Lacrosse championship team in 1976. Following college, he became a men’s lacrosse coach, first at Salisbury, then at Colgate and since 1988 at Gettysburg College. His record at Gettysburg is 389–115 and combined at the three schools his 434 career wins places him as the 2nd all-time winningest NCAA Lacrosse Coach. He has coached the Bullets to 19 conference titles, 24 NCAA Division 3 tournament appearances and 3 national championship game appearances. He is a two-time Babe Kraus award winner as the Division 3 Coach of the Year, in 1984 at Salisbury and in 2001 at Gettysburg. Many of his former student-athletes have become head lacrosse coaches.
