After transferring to York College, Duane became a two-time Division 3 National Champion. His final record at York College of 97–6 included a perfect senior year (40–0) and a 65-match winning streak to end his career. In 2006 Duane was named NWCA Wrestler of the Year. Duane enjoyed a successful wrestling career at Bermudian Springs High School, compiling a record of 85–30. He was a two-time sectional champion, placed third and fourth in districts as a junior and senior, and was a PIAA state qualifier while also being a part of multiple tournament and district team champions. He began his collegiate wrestling career at Bloomsburg University where he went 17–15 and was named to the NWCA honorable mention wrestling team. Following his college wrestling career, he became an assistant coach at York and in 2013 he became the YCP’s head coach
