Became one of Biglerville High’s outstanding track athletes who also lettered in basketball and football for the Canners. As a senior was undefeated in the 100 and 220 and went on to win both events in the Shippensburg Invitational, the District III and State meets. A 1948 graduate of Shippensburg State, he was undefeated in 12 dual meets in 1947; was Pennsylvania State College champion in both events in 1947 and 1948; finished second in the 100 in 1948 and third in 1949 at prestigious Penn Relays; placed second in 1948 AAU meet behind Olympian Barney Ewell. He joined the staff at Mechanicsburg High where he started the track program in 1953. He also coached football and basketball
