Francis B. “Butch” Alberts

1968 graduate Gettysburg High School lettering three years in football, basketball, baseball; captained first undefeated, untied grid and undefeated league cage teams; honorable mention All-State end; only Warrior named to Big 33 and Big 15 teams in same year; played on two undefeated baseball teams. MVP defensive back at U. of Cincinnati where he set numerous school baseball records as third baseman and lettered three years in football. Drafted by Pittsburgh Pirates, played for California Angels and made major league debut with Montreal Expos in 1978. Retired from pros in 1980. Hit lifetime minor league .306 and major league .278. Inducted into Cincinnati Hall of Fame.
