John Oyler

A graduate of Biglerville High School in 1968, Oyler was a standout sprinter in high school. At Princeton University, where he captained both the 1969 freshmen and 1972 varsity track and field teams, he moved up to middle distance events and excelled there as well. Oy;er won many
Blue Mountain League titles, including the 100-yard dash, 440-yard dash, and 880-yard run. He also was a star in the relay events. In 1968, Oyler was PIAA state champion in the 440, running 49.2 seconds, which was a school record at the time. He also anchored the 4 x 440 relay to the state gold medal in 3:23.0. That team ran a best time of 3:22.7, which stood as a Conner school record for over five decades. His first foray into the middle distance events came at the Shippensburg Invitational, where he set a school record of 2:01.5 in placing second. Oyler went on to win varsity letters in track and field and cross country at Princeton. He got his law degree from University of Virginia in 1975.
