Steve was well-known locally for his ability as a Sprint Car driver. He won 259 races at 28 different tracks including 150 at Lincoln Speedway. He built his own cars and engines. In 2000 he was inducted into the National Spring Car Hall of Fame, which is located in Knoxville, Iowa,, In his later years he served as ‘Crew chief’ for his son while Steve Jr. Toured with the “World of Outlaws”.
