Andrea Wickerham

Wickerham competed in athletics at a time when girls’ sports were just getting started. A 1976 graduate of Gettysburg High School, she started at forward on the field hockey team as a sophomore as the team finished with a 5-1 record. After sitting out for injury in her junior year, she was a star at forward her senior year, leading the team to a 10-0-1 record and the Blue Mountain League championship. She also was a starting guard for Gettysburg’s first girls’ basketball team, and competed in volleyball and track and field. Wickerham went on to compete at Ursinus College, graduating in 1980. There she played varsity tennis, basketball, and field hockey for three years. She was selected as starting forward for the US Field Hockey Association’s Northeast Section team. After college, she was head coach at Mt. St. Mary’s in field hockey and softball, and then was a grad assistant coach at University of Iowa in field hockey. She was also an assistant basketball coach at Eastern Michigan and assistant basketball and field hockey coach at University of Michigan. Wickerham served in athletics administration at Central Connecticut, Harvard, Luther College, and Penn State.
